The ceremony takes place outdoors, rain or shine. Hanover weather can vary widely in mid-June. Please dress accordingly and bring hats, sunscreen, jackets, or rain gear as needed. Shoes with low or flat heels are recommended due to the soft ground.
Directions & Parking
Free parking will be available on Saturday for Investiture guests at the Emily and Errik Anderson Parking Garage, located under the Class of 1982 Engineering and Computer Science Center (15 Thayer Drive in Hanover), with overflow parking available in the nearby Channing Cox lot. See directions to Thayer for more info.
Lodging & Dining
On-Campus Housing
Dartmouth makes undergraduate residence halls available for guests during Commencement weekend. Rooms are available for occupancy from 2:00pm on Friday, June 7, until 2:00pm on Sunday, June 9. The nightly rate is $62.00 per person. Please visit Commencement and Reunion Housing for more information and complete the housing application by April 3, 11:59pm ET. Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered only on a space-available basis.
Off-Campus Accommodations
The Upper Valley is home to a variety of hotels, inns, and vacation rentals. Many local establishments begin taking reservations one year in advance and sell out quickly. If you choose to stay off-campus, we strongly recommend that you arrange accommodations as soon as possible. Check the Dartmouth Commencement Lodging page for more details.
Dining Options
Dining options, both on-campus and in the Upper Valley area, are listed on the Dartmouth Commencement Frequently Asked Questions page.
Photos & Video
Photos by our photographer will be available to download for free from Thayer's Flickr site, in the week following the ceremony. The video will be posted on Thayer's YouTube channel.
Each graduate also has the opportunity to purchase their photo with the dean through GradImages. Graduates, please check your email and mail for more information about how to purchase these photos.
West End Circle
The West End Circle is at the end of Tuck Mall, in front of Thayer's Cummings Hall and the Irving Institute for Energy and Society.
Severe Weather Plan
In the event of severe weather, Dartmouth may announce alternative plans for the ceremony. The decision will be made by 6:00am on Saturday morning and communicated via email to graduates, faculty and staff, as well as posted on our website and Thayer and Dartmouth social media channels.
Please continue to monitor this page, as well as Thayer's social media channels, for the most up-to-date information.
