Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Engineering Design

Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of associate professor or higher.

We seek candidates with a PhD in engineering or a related field and a deep understanding of design and the language and methods of design thinking. A successful candidate will be prepared to teach both undergraduate and graduate students and conduct a vibrant program of externally-funded research in design innovation.

Thayer is in the early stage of a significant expansion of faculty, facilities, and programs, providing a unique opportunity for the candidate to help shape the future of the institution and build campus partnerships and programs. Candidates should be strategic thinkers who will help shape the development of design and innovation within the engineering program and Dartmouth as a whole.

Engineering undergraduates at Dartmouth pursue a distinctive combination of the liberal arts and engineering within a single unified engineering department characterized by a strong history and culture of design and entrepreneurship. Student learning is interactive and project-based, and is supported by a well-equipped and staffed machine shop, and extensive computational, fabrication, materials processing, and electronics design facilities. Additionally, Dartmouth is training a new generation of technology leaders with the nation’s first doctoral-level engineering Innovation Program. This program provides engineering PhD candidates with entrepreneurial training for turning research discoveries into applied technologies.
